An
investment-with-pride, in telling the story of realizing your dreams.
Black and White Ball is a new feature docudrama about the emotional roller
coaster of achieving one’s dream. B&WB follows the successful
girl’s soccer team at Monte Vista High School, in Northern California.
But it’s much more than a sports film. It’s a look at the drive,
relationships and passion of any team with a common goal. And, the team
members aren’t the creation of a Hollywood producer. They are the
real teammates, daughters and sisters; and, these are the real victories,
defeats and struggles on the team and within their families. It’s
competition at the highest level for the league and section championships
and the precious individual scholarships.
Soccer is more than just a sport to the girls on the Monte Vista High School
soccer team. It’s a way of life, but soccer also represents a life
learning opportunity for character development, personal growth and team
bonding. The film shows the determination of young women today and the corresponding
struggle to be a successful, top rated athlete. For the girls of the Monte
Vista High Mustangs the challenge is exacerbated by an extremely high level
of competition and affluence in their community. Success not only means
a college scholarship. It’s also a status symbol in Danville, California.
How can they keep up?
In Black & White Ball, soccer is a metaphor for any goal-oriented passion,
helping to serve up life lessons that most people don’t learn until
well into adulthood. An inspirational and motivational film, it also demonstrates
the benefits reaped when parents stay active in their children’s life.
Whether it’s art, music, dance or sports, the film points out how
crucial it is that parents take every opportunity to support their children’s
passions and become immersed in their fleeting youth. Children never get
it back – and neither do their parents.
This is more than a sports documentary; and it goes way beyond the typical
sports clichés. It appeals to parents and kids of all ages and shows
us how hard work, familial support and dedication can make your dreams come
true.
