GREG FISH, Executive Producer:
Greg is the driving, creative force behind Black & White Ball. He is
uniquely qualified to oversee the production. He has a 25-year successful
track record coaching soccer, building championship teams and providing
inspirational leadership to young adults. As a high school coach, Greg has
twice been named the North Coast Section Women’s Coach of the Year.
His teams at Monte Vista High School have won six East Bay Athletic League
championships (in nine years) while compiling an overall record of 133-33-24.
As a club coach for the top ranked Mustang Soccer League, he has coached
two teams to the California North State Cup Championship. As a player, Greg
played for the University of Santa Clara where is attended school earning
a BSC and MBA.
Greg is also CFO of Global Media Group, a portfolio of media properties
that are designed to serve audiences throughout the world, and Greg was
previously a founder and CFO of BroadcastHealth.com, a media and Internet
company that focused on western and alternative medicine.
MARK PASSALAQUA, Producer and Director:
Mark’s background as an entrepreneur, corporate executive and film/event
producer, suit him well for the world of film production. He combines a
strong passion for the creative product with a real-world pragmatism regarding
its marketability and feasibility. Previously, Mark was Founder and CEO
of Sports ID, a venture capital backed sports programming and production
company where he produced and directed over 1,400 broadcast quality, scaleable
sports learning videos, a television show, video news releases, short documentaries,
as well as creating APV’s (Athlete Promotional Videos) that are used
to market professional athletes for endorsements, speaking engagements,
broadcast positions, etc. His current production efforts include various
short form documentaries, fitness videos and home improvement instructional
content. In addition, he was General Manager of Extreme Sports Nutrition,
an energy supplement and nutrition bar manufacturer for sports enthusiasts
where he was responsible for the creation and development of the company’s
products, packaging, marketing and creative efforts. Mark has also worked
in the commercial real estate and advertising agency industries after receiving
his bachelor’s degree in Economics from the UCLA.
MICHAEL T. WHALEN, Producer and Writer:
Michael Whalen is a unique writer, producer and director. His innovative
style and distinctive voice continues to define him as a top talent in the
film and television industry. His feature documentary, “Another First
Step” received The Cine Golden Eagle, the Bronze Plaque from the 42nd
Annual Columbus Awards, The Dore Schary Award and a Student Academy Award
nomination. For the past twelve years Mike has been working as a writer,
producer and director for The Discovery Channel, The Learning Channel, NBC,
Fox Television and The Arts and Entertainment Network (A&E). His work
includes; “The Curse of the Goddess Pele” and “Sacred
Places” for the A&E series Ancient Mysteries; “Skyscrapers”
and “Hibernia GBS “ for the TLC Series, Super Structures of
the World. “Military Master Builders,” “Below New York”
and “Subterranean Secrets” for the TLC Series Mega Tech. In
addition, Mike has worked as a producer and director on such series as Confirmation,
Sightings, Storm Warning, Without Warning, Trauma Center, Amazing America
and LAPD: Life on the Beat. He recently finished the feature documentary,
“Fresh Women,” a film about six female artists in San Francisco
who decided to leave their business jobs for careers as artists. He has
also completed the initial filming of his latest film about six social entrepreneurs,
“For profit or good?” Filming will continue in the fall of 2007
when Michael visits Kenya, Bolivia and India to see first-hand how these
socially conscious business people are struggling to keep their companies
afloat in some of the poorest regions in the world.
Mike is also an Assistant Professor of Communication at Santa Clara University
where he teaches film and television courses. Mike received a Master of
Fine Arts in Film and Television Directing from The University of California,
Los Angeles, in 1993. He graduated from Santa Clara University in 1989 with
a Bachelor of Arts degree. DAN DAMMAN, Editor:
Dan Damman is a highly technical creative editor who has been working in
post production for over 15 years. Dan previously was he head editor with
Home Improvement Camp and prior to that, Dan was head of post production
for Sports ID – a provider of over 1,300 sports learning videos, covering
75 different sports. In addition to that, he has done numerous projects
for companies such as Levi Strauss, Silicon Graphics, Visa, Pacific Bell,
Krisfilms, SBC, Kenwood Group and several other post production facilities
in San Francisco and Los Angeles.
ERICA HINTERGARDT, Camera & Assistant Producer:
Photojournalist Erica Hintergardt spent 11 years working for major television
stations as a camera woman and ENG tech covering some of Americas major
news stories from the Oklahoma City Bombing to the Drilling of the Arctic
National Wildlife Refuge in the Alaskan Arctic Circle. Most recently Erica
has worked shooting and producing documentary films with the focus on giving
young woman a “voice”. She has international media and humanitarian
aid experience while covering the gender violence crisis in Kenya in 2006.
She is the co-founder of Maendelo ya Wasichana, a non-profit that helps
teenage girls orphaned by AIDS in Kenya.
Erica has produced hundreds of video story segments both for TV and Freelance
for various corporate clients. (e.g., Chi Running DVD, Wildlife Works fashion
show promo, San Francisco Environmental Fashion Show with Al Gore and visuals
for SF Vibe.) She has won numerous awards for her videographer work including
the Pass award in 2006 from the National Council on Crime and Delinquency
for a Special series on Community Probation and at risk Juveniles in Oakland,
California, RTNDA Unity Award in 2003 for a three-part series on Muslims
in America, interviewed a broad range of individuals from San Francisco
Muslim residents to Louis Farrakhan, earned Emmy nominations in 1998, 1999,
2001, 2002 and 2004, and won the Bay Area Press Photographers Award in 2001
for a three-part series on drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge
in Alaska. She has also been recognized with various other awards from RTNDA
and the NPPA
ANDY ORGEL, Chairman, Global Media Group:
Andrew H. Orgel is a media industry leader with over 25 years of experience
in the startup, management and growth of successful, industry-dominant,
consumer-driven media brands in the U.S., Canada and the U.K. Following
various positions at CBS, Orgel was part of the start-up executive team
at and served as Vice President, Sales & Marketing of MTV, Nickelodeon
and The Movie Channel and the original Vice President, Affiliate Sales &
Marketing, and later the Senior Vice President, Programming & Production
of the Arts & Entertainment Network, A&E. Orgel has been labeled
by Success Magazine as “the man who made TV interactive.” He
co-founded Interactive Enterprises, an interactive media company which created
personal media properties with companies including Sony Pictures Television,
JSkyB and Wink Communications. Interactive Enterprises joined with U.S.
West (now Qwest) to create Interactive Video Enterprises where he developed
a suite of television services, with major retailers, manufacturers and
telecommunications companies, for digital broadband delivery by telephone
companies. He served as President, Video Jukebox Network, which he later
re-branded “THE BOX: Music Television You Control,” the first
interactive television network, later acquired by MTV Networks. He was President
and COO of Wisdom Media Group, where he led the company's Television, Radio,
Internet and Print media businesses in the life improvement category. Orgel
has been responsible for helping to raise in excess of $200 million for
these media businesses. He serves on the boards of Channel Lab, LLC, QOL
Media and passportM. He currently serves as Chairman of the Advisory Board
of Ithaca College’s Park School of Communications.
